Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS)

Rapid densification using pulsed current and axial pressure at lower temperatures with fine-grained microstructures.

What This Process Solves

Rapid densification using pulsed current and axial pressure at lower temperatures with fine-grained microstructures.

Excellent temperature uniformity

Fast heating and cooling

Short sintering time

Controllable microstructure

Energy saving

Suitable Materials & Applications

Ceramic / metal-matrix diamond composites

  • Ti3SiC2-bonded diamond
  • Copper-diamond heat spreaders
  • SiC-diamond composites
  • Al-diamond and Mg-diamond composites

High-performance tool materials

  • Ultra-fine WC cemented carbide
  • WC/cBN composite tools
  • Pure WC ceramic tools

Magnetic materials

  • Nd-Fe-B and Sm-Co permanent magnets
  • Fe-based nanocrystalline soft magnets
  • Ferrites
  • Metal-ceramic magnetic composites

Sputtering targets

  • Refractory metal targets
  • High-purity metal targets
  • Oxide ceramic targets
  • Magnetic ceramic targets

Advanced material extensions

  • Functionally graded materials
  • Nitride and carbide ceramics
  • High-purity metal billets
  • Amorphous and nanocrystalline alloys

Evaluation Boundary

Final feasibility depends on material composition, geometry, atmosphere window, thermal profile, target performance, and downstream testing requirements. For immature formulas or complex dissimilar joining, small-sample validation is recommended first.
